The Goggle Eye  For Sale!

Materials

Hook: Tiemco 811 S, size 1/0 to 5/0.
Thread: White Danville Fly Master Plus, or equivalent.
Under body:  Lead wire around front third of hook shank (optional)
Tail: 6 long, white saddle hackles
Tail topping: 20 strands of silver or pearl  Flashabou or Krystal Flash
Body: White Fishair or synthetic equivalent.
Wing: White Bucktail
Wing topping:  Olive Bucktail or your color preference.
Shoulder: 1 long grizzly saddle hackle on each side, 3/4ths the length
of the wing.
Throat: Red Krystal Flash (optional)
Eyes: 5/16ths 3D Hologram stick on in red, yellow, or silver.
Head: 5 Minute Epoxy

Tying the Goggle Eye

1) Attach the thread at the rear of the hook and build up a small ball of thread.

2) Tie in 3 matched saddle hackles on the far side of the hook.

3) Tie in another group on the near side.

4) Tie in a few strands of Flashabou or Krystal Flashon the outsides of the hackles. Whip finish and bring the thread forward to the hook eye.

5) Wrap lead wire around the front third of the shank if you plan onweighting it. Wrap with thread and bring thread to a point about 1/3 down the hook shank.

6) Turn the fly over in the vise and tie in the Fishair or Super Hair to form the body.

7) Tie in a clump of red Krystal Flash to form the throat of the fly.

8) Clip a clump of bucktail and soak the butts with head cement.

9) While the head cement is still wet tie in the bucktail on the far side of the hook.

10) Tie in the rest of the collar the same way, soaking the butts in head cement, then tying them in place.

11) Tie in a grizzly saddle hackle which is about 3/4ths the length of the fly, on each side of the hook.

12) Build up the head of the fly with thread, whip finish and coat with head cement.

13) Apply the eyes to the fly.

14) Cover the head and eyes with 5 minute epoxy and turn until it sets.

15) Go fish!
