Private fly casting or fly fishing lessons with one or both of us.

We have fly fished the West, primarily for trout.  We teach fly fishing and fly casting classes for Sage Rod Company through fly fishing shops throughout California, Nevada and Arizona.  We are also the principal instructors for the Master Angler class, a true advanced 5 day fly fishing class held at Clearwater House on Hat Creek, California.  Jan is a FFF Master Certified Casting Instructor.

We offer instruction at any level, from novice to advanced, and will provide instruction on the basic overhead cast, distance casting, double haul, specialty casts and spey casting using 2-handed rods.  We video tape during most of our sessions, and we will provide equipment if you do not have your own.

In addition, we will provide instruction on how to teach others to cast, and how to become a Federation of Fly Fishers certified casting instructor (at either the basic or master level).

For private lessons we charge $60.00/hour for 1 or 2 students.  Additional students are $20.00/hour each.

Our Sage classes are either all day beginning fly fishing classes for trout, or half-day casting clinics.  The casting clinics can be either beginning, advanced or spey casting.  To find out where and when these classes are scheduled, please e-mail us at janyk@aol.com .  The cost for the all day fly fishing class is $95 per student, and the clinics are $50 per student.

Michael C. Maloney

Michael Maloney is a nationally recognized fly casting instructor. He has been fly- fishing for 48 years and teaching fly casting for over 25 years. He is the author of the Pocket Guide to Fly Casting with Michael Maloney. He lives in Camarillo, California" Equally at home in fresh or salt water, he enjoys any kind of fishing, as long as he has a fly rod in his hand.

What clearly sets Michael apart from other instructors is his ability to give his students the tools they need to analyze and correct their own mistakes. This, together with the confidence he instills in them, allows them to cast better long after the lessons are over. After a few hours with Michael, you will be thinking better casting, not just doing it.

Michael is available for individual or group casting seminars. A long time corporate marketing executive, Michael can combine motivational, marketing and communication skills with fly casting for corporate groups and retreats. He is a F .F .F .Certified Master Casting Instructor.

What others say about Michael:

"Michael Maloney is such a gifted, passionate teacher; this. Even more than his remarkable ability as a caster, sets him apart His unique style romps from raucous humor to gracious humility, but always, he is teaching. He taught me morc in an evening than I bad learned in a lifetime. A casting instructor myself, I left not only a far better caster , but a far better teacher .'.
